After a few months of teasing, the name for Cadillac’s flagship sedan is finally made known: the CT6. This full-size, rear-wheel-drive car will be the largest in the Cadillac lineup and will compete with the BMW 7-Series and Mercedes-Benz S-Class.
“The Cadillac CT6 continues our brand’s elevation and global growth,” said Uwe Ellinghaus, Cadillac chief marketing officer, in a press release. “CT6 will constitute an entirely new approach to the prestige sedan, emphasizing a dynamic driving experience and advanced technology.”
And, it seems the CT6 will be leading the way toward a new naming structure for the entire Cadillac brand. Cadillac says future models will get familiar lettering like “CT” and then a number to designate its relative size and position in Cadillac’s lineup, for example, the current XTS could become the CT5.
The Cadillac CT6 will be assembled in Detroit at the Detroit-Hamtramck plant as part of a $384 million investment. Production will begin late in 2015.
Here at DeVoe Cadillac, we are incredibly excited by this new flagship sedan and can’t wait to get it on our showroom floor sometime in 2016.
