Learn Proper Driving Posture with These Techniques
Back problems and other constant strain issues usually fall in that class of problems which people don’t care about until they indeed become a problem. Preventative medicine is the best medicine, and many times, it’s the cheapest medicine. For instance, adjusting your posture while you drive is free. Chiropractic adjustments are not.
Livestrong shares a number of recommendations for maintaining proper driving posture. Ensure that there is space between the backs of your knees and the driver’s seat. This will prevent the seat from cutting off circulation.
Consider removing your wallet and placing it in your console or glove box. Sitting level is important, so don’t have anything in your back pockets. Lumbar support is also extremely important. If you don’t feel that you have enough lumbar support, try placing a rolled up towel behind your lower back.
Hold onto the steering wheel with both hands and don’t be afraid to change positions often. Sitting in the same position, even if it’s a healthy one, can prove straining over time.
